Mike Lavor also thanked everyone for their help. He thanked Emmet especially for all the printing of programs and GoFundMe bookmarks. For future improvements, he mentioned that some people brought more people than they had reserved a place for which caused confusion. Extra tables had been set up which helped. He also announced that he would be leaving Casas Adobes Rotary because of involvement in three other organizations and planned travel in addition to his work responsibilities. Everyone agreed that he will be missed and expressed appreciation for the work he has done on the 8th Grade Program.
Mike Kloehn mentioned that he had some green information cards that parents had filled out at the breakfast. Mike Lavor emphasized how important it is to make contact not only with people who filled out the cards but also with former scholarship recipients.
Emmet mentioned that $500 has been donated on the GoFundMe website and all from members. He encouraged everyone to make contact with friends and family to make them aware of the program.
Diane Manzini from the FitKidz program of Southern Arizona Roadrunners brought us up to date on what’s going on. Casas Adobes Rotary, one of several sponsors, has donated $1000 to the program. The program encourages health and fitness for kids and is free for the participants because of donations from sponsors. Nine one mile races have either taken place or will take place for 2019 in various locations in Tucson. Each event has different fun activities and each participant receives a free T-shirt at the first race. Diane thanked the club for its sponsorship.
