Pastor Bigimba Ngabo from Goshen Ministries spoke about the task of re-building hope in the lives of orphans and refugees who have been impacted by disease and violence from the conflicts in Central Africa.  Having personally witnessed genocide, he has responded to God's call to provide to orphaned children and assist with other refugees.  Rescued children are placed in group homes with "house parents" that provide basic needs and guidance as well as enrollment in schools providing quality education.  Refugees in Tucson require assistance following their arrival as they face the uncertainty of new challenges including language, job hunting, and decision making.

His comments were a followup to those of Pastor Gary Stokes who spoke several weeks ago on the Goshen Ministry.  Their efforts in Tucson have been hampered by a recent fire in their meeting site, however the community has stepped forward to provide alternate meeting sites and it is hoped a community center can be opened soon.  Their guiding principles are directed to "sustain commitments to the children" in their care.
