Jeff Sims led the Pledge of Allegiance.  Greg Heisey gave the invocation.

  • Larry provided updates on:

    -   District 5500 conference Cruise With A Cause

    -   District 5500 membership seminar on August 3rd at Quail Creek CC

    -   Announcement of opening for candidates for District Governor 2022-2023 year

    -   District and global grant submission extension announced

    -   CAR Board meeting to be held July 16th at the offices of Greg Heisey

    -   CAR Board membership announced and distributed

    -   8th Grade questionnaires briefly reviewed

  • Bob Sommerfeld informed club members he has made application to a three month program as a Rotary Peace Fellow.  His application and supporting letters have been accepted and approved.  The final selection process will occur on November 19th.  If accepted, the program would take place at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.  This is truly an outstanding accomplishment for Bob, who is well deserving and we wish him all the best.

Program
Program for 07-10-2019:

Jeff Hotchkiss, a new arrival to Tucson from Massachusetts, is an executive with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).  He presented a broad history and overview of scouting throughout the world as well as in the USA.  The mission of the BSA and the various scouting divisions were outlined.  Membership controversies that have impacted scouting were discussed; including the inclusion of all regardless of gender identity and /or sexual orientation into all scouting activities, the acceptance of girls into the scouting organization and the separation of the Mormon Church as a sponsor of BSA activities.  The aims of scouting, character, citizenship, personal fitness, leadership, are part of the Scout method and “Be Prepared” remains the Scout motto.
