Program for 09_04_2019: Clark DesSoye and Annette Anaya gave the program about ACI- Arizona Correctional Industries. Arizona Correctional Industries is a non-profit organization, part of National Correctional Industries Association, which trains and rehabilitates prison inmates. Inmates acquire technical skills or improve existing skills such as metal work, woodworking, and printing. They also acquire soft skills such as communication, reliability, and teachability. Inmates with skills are a resource for AZ businesses with the possibility of continuing their jobs after release. They earn 80 cents to $1.00/hour while incarcerated and pay any restitution they have incurred for their crimes. To qualify for the program, they have to have a high school diploma and be at a medium security level. 2,000 inmates are currently involved.
